WEIGHT: 22.6 . (starting weight 25, goal 0 )
GOAL: 22.5
RESULT: DOH!!!!!
Well! I missed it by 100 grams. That's pretty rough huh. I would have fasted a few hours and re-weighed but it's Mother's Day and I didn't have time. Happy Mother's Day to all y'all out there, and happy first Mother's Day to me! 'Twas a lovely day and I got spoiled rotten by my lovely hubby and my beautiful kidlets.
Luckily for me I based my reward on compliance and not on the scale so I still get my reward of a (9 month overdue) eyebrow shape and tint because I adhered to the Bulletproof and Keto Diet, To. A. T. for the past week; had less than 30g net carbs/day; and did 3x Morning walks. Yay. TICK. Can I get a "hell yeah!"????!!!
So I'm pretty much 2.5kg down after the first week. Sounds a lot right? Well it is but it is actually mostly just water weight. Every carb molecule in your body holds a water molecule, so when you drop out the carbs you drop out the water, hence the big drop when you start a keto diet. The key now is to hold it. Thus, my weightloss (fatloss) target for this week will be just 1 kilogram. Hold it off, plus shred a little more (only because I have a lot to shred). So here's my behaviour summary for the week:
- Microwave - Used 3x for myself; 4x for baby
- This is a huge improvement and definitely took some effort and forward planning
- Morning Walk - Managed to do the 3, but wasn't very motivated to go. Only really went in order to get the reward. Hoping this will vastly improve over the coming weeks.
- Antihistamine - Took daily up until Day 6. Haven't had any Day 6 or 7. Hayfever is an apparent indication of my Dairy intolerance, according to my Doctor.
- Fasting - Having a BP Coffee (or 2) and nothing else in the morning, was hard on days 1 and 2 but since then has been pretty easy. Obviously easier when you get to sleep in because it uses up more of the hours. It's a little harder when you are up at 6 with the baby and can't eat until 12. I haven't eaten before 12pm all week though.
- Most days I fasted 8pm until 12pm. Some days (Day 1,2,6,7) I ate a fat bomb after that. It is soooo different to actually fast versus "pretend to fast" (but actually allow yourself mouthfuls of food). lol. My labrador brain always convinced me I was fasting but actually I was NOT.
It will be so interesting to see my results once I actually stick properly to a diet and not try and think I know better. Please help me stay strict! Leave me a comment if you're reading this and feel inspired. I'd love to know if I'm helping someone else - it will help me stay strong. <3
Sooooo.... It is now Sunday (and Mother's Day) and I have had 2.5 glasses of bubbly which will be my only carbs for the day. I said I wouldn't drink until 3 weeks in but I forgot about my first Mother's Day!!! So obbbbviously I just HAD to have a drink (or two). But never fear, young grasshopper.. I am counting every sip and this will NOT be a carb-up.
The thing that amazes me most about keto is the power it gives you (if you are a sugar addict especially). It's like someone just turns off the cravings switch in your head and all of a sudden you're not at the mercy of those dastardly little bumps on your tongue. It's really quite amazing.
My oh so wise sister wrote a great post this week, about her trials and tribulations as a dieter and woman and mother and about the sugar monster living inside her. I thought it was very true so thought I'd repost it. I think we can mostly all relate to this...
What is it that you wish you weren’t?
Lazy, shy, a procrastinator, an addict of something...
I wish I wasn’t a godamn sugar addict/emotional eater! Who are these people that JUST eat for nutrition, I think they’re aliens it’s that foreign to me 👽👽👽
If I could have a genie grant me some wishes one would for sure be to not use food as an emotional buffer whether it be boredom, frustration or just plain lazy eating patterns grrr so annoying.
About 5 years ago I lost 20kg, kept it off and totally changed my approach to food but it took Consistent Effort, so what I want to know is all these skinny people do you naturally have not eat crap super powers? Come on share the secret haha
Anyway so back to my story, I was going good and basically had my demons in check and then I got PREGNANT and creeeeeeeeaaak (key turning noise), that demon prison door opened and out they came in full force and totally mowed me down aghhhhh I was freeeee to eat lollies again yesss!
Noooooo! It’s a full battle of wits going on now, Sugar demon vs Sarah’s I should know better angel. Those angels are far too weak, they need to lift bro, get stronger. Sugar demons are powerful and sneaky, ain’t no match for them!
So a year and a bit on that Sugar Demon has set up camp quite nicely thank you, he reclines back on his lazy boy and directs me towards the sugar isle, or maybe the flavoured milk section of the shop, meh take ya pick there’s lots to choose from 👅
So now I need to break free from his evil mits, I would chop his hands off if I could see them, then there’d be no more pointing to the fridge when I’m not even hungry...rahhhh take that No Hands, he’s clever though he’d just use his foot to point, gonna take more than that!
Any super heroes out there, your skills are needed, you can live with me and help fight my battle cos I’m not doing that well alone.
Hmmmm....I need a solid plan of attack, ideas?
Well, my friend (and sister), I have a Plan of Attack for you and it's called... wait for it...
KETO
I know, genius right?!!!
This week I will aim to lose 1kg. I will complete 3+ morning walks and follow strict adherence to my diet, 7 out of 7 days. My reward is a Pedicure (I legit look like I have cat claws, if a cat painted its toenails coral). I will remain strictly dairy free so as to monitor the hayfever response. I will abstain from the microwave as much as possible for all family members. I will do one or more weights session.
Have a great week everybody.
Yours in health, happiness and impending hotness,
Katy xxx
