GOAL: My Best Friend's Wedding, October 5th 2019
Hey guys, it is with great trepidation that I sit here deciding to blog once again to the world. My circumstances have changed.. I am with child. And by that I mean I have had a child! So now I have to get the baby weight off.. which brings me back to you all. I have been reading back on my posts and feel ashamed that I just vanished into thin air - what a croc! I stopped blogging. I also stopped keto, had an ankle operation and then got into wedding shape without using keto until the very end (where I used it to SHRED (...sorry Ty if you're reading this :o) ) and got into a shape I was happy with. The reason I didn't do keto was cos I was scared of a rebound. Well the rebound occurred anyway!
Now I've had a baby and gained a shitload of weight and need to lose.. wait for it.. 25 KGS! Yup that's right. So I've decided to do keto. This time around I am going to take a different approach because I have realised what I've been doing very very wrong.
DAIRY.
I'm not allowed it. My two amazing Integrative Drs and my clinical nutritionist say I don't tolerate it and it is causing huge systemic inflammation (hence all my hayfever and life-long dark circles under my eyes). They told me this years ago but I think I'm a bit thick. So I've come to the realisation that every time I've done the keto diet, I've been eating HUGE quantities of the one thing that is like Kryptonite to me! How crazy is that?! No wonder I always rebound off it! Imagine my results if I do a "Well-formulated Keto Plan" without dairy?! Well that is why we are here people! That is why I have decided to come back and blog.
This time around I'm not gonna bother with the comparison table etc. It took too long to do and stood in the way of me wanting to blog (told you I was lazy). So I'm gonna set goals and stuff I'm just not gonna have a layout template, if you will.
At this point I would like to take a moment to cast your eyes back to my blog, dated 10 Oct 2016, entitled 'Close but no cigar' where I state:
"And if you wanna know what the celebrities all do to drop weight fast then THIS is their little secret - and it's gonna go mainstream, mark my words...AND when it does you'll know where you read it first."
Well well well.. wasn't I correct?! Now all you see all over FB is Keto this and Keto that. To all of my friends reading this who doubted me that you could lose fat by eating fat.. sucked. Told ya I was right hehe. Saaah ahead of my time on that one :o)
Anyway enough skiting. More about my plan.
For those familiar with the work of The Bulletproof Executive, David Asprey, I am going to take a Bulletproof approach to my new lifestyle (see how I'm not calling it a "diet"?!). I am going to take a lot of care about things I have not worried about in the past. Things that David Asprey feels very strongly about. These are:
- NOT using the microwave . (This is a biggy for me cos I'm a microwave maniac)
- Buying grass-fed meat and wild seafood only
- Choosing low-toxin and low-allergenic food (for me this means total elimination of all DAIRY)
- Grounding and being outside in bare feet
- Meditation
- Getting quality sleep
- And others that I cannot recall right now
This avoiding toxin business is key to no inflammation and a healthy working body and clean foundation to sit the diet on top of.
I will also be following the Bulletproof (BP) way of eating, which means starting the day with a Bulletproof Coffee (Dairy-free version), eating two main meals plus a keto dessert every night. I'm hoping incorporating the dessert will stop me craving and binging. I will be doing a cyclical keto diet (CKD) as per the BP method.
I will also continue with the things I know I have to do to be healthy and stay in a 'Well-formulated Keto plan' (i.e NOT being lazy) which is:
- Drinking lots and lots of quality water
- Taking the right supplements (and actually remembering to take them)
- Avoiding Gluten
- Avoiding Sugar
- Cooking in the correct oil
- Choosing free-range eggs only (and not Omega-3 enriched)
- Logging my food daily to be sure of carbs
- Meal prep
- Keeping daily net carbs below 50g, and of course,
- BLOGGING here as my means of SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Exercise will be a mixture of walking with the pram, weights sessions and gym cardio sessions. Once I've dropped some weight and can comfortably sit on a spin bike (and rehabbed my knees somewhat) I will include Spin classes.
I will slowly make my diet more and more Bulletproof as I go along so as not to overwhelm or bankrupt myself by going out and getting every single supplement and gizmo I can find! Just make a couple of small changes each week, as my wise sister would suggest (hi Sezza!).
I am going to chart the 25 kg weight (fat) loss as if I start at 25kgs and am working towards 0kg. That way it'll be easy to compare results and also I don't have to admit to the world how much I weigh ;0). If you need to know the deets for your own progress comparison, message me and I'll share all.
So without further ado, here's my plan:
Starting Date: 5th May 2019 Starting Weight: 25kg
End Goal Date: 4th October 2019 End Goal Weight: 0kg
This is crazy! My Best Friend's Wedding (a huge motivator for this) is October 5th. That means I have exactly 5 months to lose 25kg. CAN IT BE DONE?!!! That's just over a kg a week. This will be possible at first cos I have so much to lose, but I'll definitely have to stay Bulletproof to hit it every week. Here's a link for all things BP: https://blog.bulletproof.com/bulletproof-for-beginners/. If I don't hit my goal by then, I will reset it but for now I'm charging full-steam ahead.
Weight-loss goal for end of Week 1is 2.5kg . This is aggressive because you always drop heaps in first week of keto. There will be no carb-up until end of Week 3.
My prize for strict adherence to diet with NO carb-up and incorporating 3 early morning walks is: An eyebrow tint and shape.
Thanks for reading guys and I will try my very best to blog on time each Saturday.
Yours in health, happiness and impending hotness,
Katy x
